Some time ago the national newspaper websites of the Guardian, Daily Mail, and Telegraph each attracted over 30m unique visitors for the first time in September.
However, in the record-breaking month, www.Guardian.co.uk surpassed the website of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. This made them once again become the newspaper’s website in the UK with the largest audience.
The www.Guardian.co.uk attracted a resounding record of 32,953,433 unique visitors some months ago. These figures were released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
Note that this was a 42 percent increase in their traffic in the same month and about a 22 percent increase in August. You should remember that its previous highest traffic figure of about 29,811,671 was then achieved in January.
The www.Telegraph.co.uk also moved into the second position with a record audience of about 31,016,789 last month. This shows that its traffic went up by about 24 percent in August and about 35 percent year on year. Their previous high of about 27,708,274 was achieved in March this year.
The digital edition of the Telegraph Media team, Mr. Edward Roussel, once said that there’s excellent growth in their global and UK audiences. Saying that the overall development team has worked hard to have coverage in areas where there is plenty of demand both from their readers and advertisers.
He continued by saying that their UK page impressions surged over 60 percent from the previous year in fashion, finance, travel, and motoring. He also said that the strongest area of growth on their website was in the technology area, after launching its new tech editorial unit in August.
Even after attracting its largest ever audience of 30,042,463 back then in September, the Mail Online website was deposed as UK’s leading newspaper website. This is because it fell to third place behind www.Guardian.co.uk and www.Telegraph.co.uk.
Note that Mail Online also increased its traffic by 68 percent year on year and about five percent month on month. This was achieved back in September as it topped its previous rate of 29,872,465, but this was achieved back in July.
Others With High Internet Visitors
One of News International‘s websites www.thesun.co.uk, also recorded a month-on-month traffic decline of three percent from its 23,803,426 that it achieved back in August to about 22,994,391 internet visitors last month. But even at that, it was still a 46 percent year-on-year increment.
The Stablemate Times website also attracted 18,502,839 internet visitors last month. This is a decline of about nine percent year on year and also a one percent fall in its August traffic.
This shows the 27.2% of all the audience that represented the lowest share of the UK’s audience of the national newspaper websites which publish ABCe figures.
This means that Daily Mail achieved its highest-ever internet visitors numbers last month having about 100% year-on-year traffic growth. This is according to the Audit Bureau of Circulation latest figures which were published.
