When Google launched its Google Instant, it was announced as a āfundamental shift in searchā by Marissa Mayer. And it was under her leadership that Google Instant saw the daylight.
Google search engine did receive a wonderful makeover, but the essence did remain the same: the order of resultsā appearance remains the same. But there is a little excitement behind the fact that as you type in a search browser, you receive several search possibilities even though your typing is not over. Google is guessing what may be of your interest according to its most popular searches.
But the filter that was supposed to be dealing with provocations, misbehaving, jokes, well – rude words in general, is a bit under its league.
It happened somehow that the filters allowed jokes directed at someone’s race or religion or even sexual discourse addressed towards children, but was rather firm on banning any mention on the topic of gay, lesbian.
Google Images filter went so far as to allow soft-porn suggestions, at the same time dismissing some ruse syntax!
The Company would however turn a blind eye to shortened versions of the words such as lesb instead of lesbian. It is acceptable, and won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
A similar issue is related to Google Video. Just try to start searching anything related to lesb, and you will receive nothing but provocative and offensive content.
On the other hand, if you start searching for the word s.e.x, you might get some soft results, but you might be overwhelmed with the most lascivious photo and video suggestions.
These filters just don’t behave the way that they were supposed to. They need some serious attention, and I would recommend it fast!
In the meantime, people will enter the most innocent wordings in the search field and end up being flashed with offensive content, and be unprotected. And that may be not only fair but also dangerous since Google is available to beneficiaries of all age groups.
We remain to hold on to the hope that there is some room for improvement now.
